Your practitioner will explain how Laser Tattoo Removal works, discuss the number of treatments you may require, outline the expected results, explain any potential risks and answer any questions you may have. As every tattoo is unique, the number of sessions required can vary depending on factors such as the tattoo's colour, depth, age and your body's natural ability to remove fragmented ink. During your consultation, your tattoo will be carefully assessed and photographs may be taken (with your consent) to monitor your progress throughout your treatment journey. A patch test is mandatory before Laser Tattoo Removal can be carried out. The patch test costs £25 and is not deductible from the cost of your treatment. The purpose of the patch test is to assess how your skin responds to the laser and to ensure treatment can be carried out safely. For your safety and to ensure we are working with equipment and settings that we know and trust, Body Perfection Clinic does not accept patch tests performed by other clinics. All clients must undergo a patch test carried out by one of our qualified practitioners before treatment. For your appointment, we recommend arriving with clean skin, free from creams, lotions, fake tan and makeup on the treatment area. If the area is particularly hairy, you may be asked to shave it before treatment. Following your Laser Tattoo Removal treatment, it is important to care for your skin correctly to support healing, minimise the risk of complications and achieve the best possible results. It is normal to experience some temporary side effects following treatment, including: Redness and warmth in the treated area. Mild swelling. Tenderness, similar to sunburn. Whitening (frosting) of the skin immediately after treatment. Small blisters or crusting may develop within the first 24–72 hours. Itching as the skin heals. These reactions are expected and form part of the normal healing process. The tattoo will gradually fade over several weeks as your body's lymphatic system naturally removes the fragmented ink particles. To protect your skin and support healing: Keep the dressing in place for as advised by your practitioner. Apply the recommended healing ointment once the dressing has been removed. Keep the treated area clean and dry. Drink plenty of water to support your body's natural elimination of the tattoo ink. Avoid touching, rubbing or scratching the treated area. For the first 24–48 hours: Avoid hot baths, hot showers, saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs. Avoid vigorous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating. Avoid swimming pools and chlorinated water. Avoid soaking the treated area. Wear loose clothing to minimise friction if the tattoo is on the body. For the first 7–14 days: Do not pick, peel or burst any blisters or scabs, as this may increase the risk of scarring or infection. Continue applying the recommended healing ointment as directed. Avoid exfoliating products, retinol, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs and other active skincare products on the treated area. Allow any crusting or scabbing to fall away naturally. Protecting your skin from UV exposure is essential following Laser Tattoo Removal: Avoid direct sun exposure and sunbeds for at least 30 days after treatment. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 50 to the treated area once the skin has fully healed. Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours when outdoors. Wear protective clothing over the treated area whenever possible. Failure to protect your skin from UV exposure can increase the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). Laser Tattoo Removal is a gradual process, and most tattoos require a course of treatments to achieve optimal fading. To maximise your results: Stay well hydrated to support your lymphatic system. Attend your treatments at the recommended intervals, typically 6–8 weeks apart, allowing the skin adequate time to heal between sessions. Follow all aftercare advice carefully to reduce the risk of complications. Protect the treated area from sun exposure throughout your course of treatment. Please contact Body Perfection Clinic if you have any concerns about your healing or experience: Severe or worsening redness lasting longer than 72 hours. Excessive swelling or increasing pain. Blistering. Delayed healing. Any unexpected or concerning reaction following your treatment. If you think you have developed an infection (such as increasing redness, excessive heat, pus, discharge or fever), or you feel generally unwell, please seek immediate medical advice from your GP, NHS 111 or your nearest emergency department if your symptoms are severe. Your practitioner will be happy to advise you and arrange a review appointment if required.

PRE‑TREATMENT CARTo ensure your skin is prepared and to achieve the safest and best results, please follow the guidance below before your Laser Tattoo Removal session: Avoid sunbeds for 30 days before treatment. Avoid sunbathing for 30 days before treatment. Avoid direct UV exposure for 30 days before treatment. Do not apply fake tan or tanning creams for 7 days before treatment. Do not use active skincare (retinol, AHA, BHA, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin C) on the area for 7 days before treatment. Avoid exfoliating products or scrubs for 5 days before treatment. Avoid chemical peels or other laser treatments on the area for 2 weeks before. Avoid heat treatments (saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga) for 48 hours before. If the treatment area is sunburnt, broken, infected, irritated or you develop a cold sore (where applicable), please contact the clinic as your treatment may need to be postponed.

A patch test for laser treatments costs **£25**. The patch test fee is charged separately and **is not deducted from the cost of your treatment**. This appointment allows our practitioners to assess your skin type, review your medical history and safely determine the most appropriate treatment settings for your individual needs. Patch testing is an essential part of ensuring safe and effective laser treatment and must be completed before your first appointment. Patch tests carried out by another clinic cannot be accepted. For your safety, Body Perfection Clinic requires all clients to undergo a patch test performed by one of our practitioners before treatment.

Treatment is not suitable for clients with: Pregnancy or breastfeeding, current or recent use of Roaccutane (Isotretinoin) within the previous 6–12 months, photosensitising medications, blood-thinning medications including Warfarin, Heparin and Clexane. Bleeding disorders, autoimmune diseases, including Lupus or rheumatoid arthritis requiring immunosuppressive medication. Immune system disorders, including HIV, Hepatitis or post-splenectomy patients, uncontrolled diabetes, heart disease or significant cardiovascular conditions, kidney disease, liver disease. Active cancer or those currently undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy or photodynamic therapy, organ transplant recipients or those taking anti-rejection medication. Treatment may require medical clearance for clients with: Epilepsy, certain medications or medical conditions affecting healing. Treatment should be postponed if: There has been recent sun exposure (wait a minimum of 4 weeks), fake tan has been applied within the previous 2–4 weeks, recent waxing, chemical peels or microdermabrasion have been performed within the treatment area, recent laser treatments have been carried out on the area. Short-term NSAIDs or Aspirin have been taken (wait 1–2 weeks where appropriate), the client has recently been unwell or has completed a course of antibiotics and has not fully recovered. Cold sores are present when treating facial tattoos (treatment should wait until fully healed)

For your Laser Tattoo Removal appointment, we recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the treatment area. Soft, breathable fabrics are ideal and will help minimise friction and irritation following treatment. If your tattoo is located on the arms or legs, wear loose clothing that can be easily rolled up or adjusted. For chest, back or shoulder tattoos, a loose-fitting top with buttons or a wide neckline is recommended. If treating an intimate area, comfortable, loose-fitting underwear and clothing are advised. Please avoid tight clothing, rough fabrics and anything that may rub against the treated area after your session, as the skin may feel warm, sensitive or tender for a few days. Arrive with clean skin free from fake tan, moisturisers, perfumes and makeup on the treatment area. Your comfort and privacy are always our priority, and disposable towels and gowns are available when required.
