A consultation is an essential part of your Laser Carbon Facial treatment and is required before your first appointment. During your consultation, your practitioner will assess your skin, discuss your concerns and determine whether a Laser Carbon Facial is the most suitable treatment for your skin. We will review your: Skin type and current skin condition. Medical history and current medications. Previous skin and aesthetic treatments. Current skincare routine. Treatment goals and expectations. Your practitioner will explain how the Laser Carbon Facial works, discuss the expected results, any potential risks and answer any questions you may have. A patch test may also be carried out if appropriate to ensure your skin responds safely before treatment. For your appointment, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing and arriving with clean skin, free from makeup, moisturisers and sunscreen on the treatment area. This allows your practitioner to assess your skin accurately and prepare you for treatment. Every person's skin is unique, which is why we create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your individual concerns. Whether you're looking to improve acne, enlarged pores, oily skin, pigmentation, fine lines or overall skin clarity, we'll ensure your treatment is designed to deliver the safest and most effective results.

Following your Carbon Laser Facial, it is important to care for your skin correctly to maximise your results and support the healing process. What to Expect After Your Treatment: The Carbon Laser Facial is a gentle yet highly effective treatment. Following your appointment, it is normal to experience: Mild redness, which usually settles within a few hours, a feeling of warmth or tingling within the treated area, temporary skin tightness or mild dryness, light flaking or peeling in some areas as the skin naturally renews itself. These reactions are completely normal and should resolve within a few hours to a few days. If your skin feels warm or uncomfortable, you may apply a cool compress. Applying 100% Aloe Vera Gel can also help soothe the skin for the first few days following treatment. Immediately After Treatment, to protect your skin and optimise your results: Apply a gentle, hydrating moisturiser as recommended by your practitioner, avoid touching, rubbing or scratching the treated area., avoid wearing makeup for 12–24 hours where possible, drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated, apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 before going outdoors. For the First 48–72 Hours: Avoid direct sun exposure, avoid sunbeds and tanning, avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, hot baths and very hot showers, avoid vigorous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating, do not use exfoliating scrubs, retinol, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs or other active skincare products. Avoid chemical peels, microneedling or additional laser treatments, cleanse your skin using a gentle, non-irritating cleanser only. For the First 7 Days Keep your skin well hydrated with a gentle moisturiser, continue using a gentle skincare routine, do not pick or peel any dry or flaky skin, avoid facial waxing, threading or other hair removal methods on the treated area, avoid harsh facials or intensive skin treatments. Protecting your skin from UV exposure is essential following laser treatment: Avoid sunbeds and sunbathing for 30 days after treatment, avoid prolonged direct sun exposure whenever possible, apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 every day for at least 4 weeks, even on cloudy days. Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours when outdoors. Wear a wide-brimmed hat or other physical sun protection where possible. Failure to protect your skin from UV exposure can increase the risk of hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation following treatment. To achieve the best long-term outcome: Continue using SPF daily, resume active skincare products, including retinol, vitamin C and exfoliating acids, after 5–7 days, unless otherwise advised by your practitioner. Keep your skin well hydrated with quality skincare products. For optimal skin health and ongoing improvements, Carbon Laser Facials are typically recommended every 2–4 weeks, depending on your skin concerns and treatment goals. Please contact Body Perfection Clinic if you have any concerns about your healing or experience: Severe or worsening redness lasting longer than 72 hours. Excessive swelling or increasing pain. Blistering. Delayed healing. Any unexpected or concerning reaction following your treatment. If you think you have developed an infection (such as increasing redness, excessive heat, pus, discharge or fever), or you feel generally unwell, please seek immediate medical advice from your GP, NHS 111 or your nearest emergency department if your symptoms are severe. Your practitioner will be happy to advise you and arrange a review appointment if required.

To ensure your skin is properly prepared and to achieve the safest and most effective results, please follow the advice below before your Carbon Laser Facial. Avoid sunbeds, sunbathing and excessive UV exposure for at least 30 days before your treatment. Do not apply fake tan or self-tanning products to the treatment area for 7 days before your appointment. Avoid waxing, threading, electrolysis, depilatory creams or bleaching the treatment area before treatment. If hair removal is required, please discuss this with your practitioner. Discontinue the use of retinol, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin C serums and other active skincare products for 5–7 days before treatment, unless otherwise advised. Avoid using facial scrubs or exfoliating products for 5 days prior to your appointment. Do not undergo chemical peels, microneedling or other laser treatments on the treatment area for at least 2 weeks before your Laser Carbon Facial. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga and excessive heat treatments for 48 hours before your appointment. Arrive with clean skin, free from makeup, sunscreen, oils and heavy skincare products where possible. Stay well hydrated before your appointment to support your skin and optimise treatment results. Inform your practitioner of any changes to your medical history, medications, allergies or recent aesthetic treatments, including anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers or skin boosters. If you develop a cold sore, active skin infection, open wound, sunburn or severe acne flare-up before your appointment, please contact the clinic as your treatment may need to be postponed. During your consultation, your practitioner will assess your skin, discuss your treatment goals and confirm that the Carbon Laser Facial is suitable for you. A personalised treatment plan will then be created to ensure the safest and most effective results.

A patch test for laser treatments costs **£25**. The patch test fee is charged separately and **is not deducted from the cost of your treatment**. This appointment allows our practitioners to assess your skin type, review your medical history and safely determine the most appropriate treatment settings for your individual needs. Patch testing is an essential part of ensuring safe and effective laser treatment and must be completed before your first appointment. Patch tests carried out by another clinic cannot be accepted. For your safety, Body Perfection Clinic requires all clients to undergo a patch test performed by one of our practitioners before treatment.

Treatment is not suitable for clients with: Active skin infections or infections within the treatment area, pregnancy or breastfeeding, current or recent use of Roaccutane (Accutane). Photosensitive medications, history of keloid scarring or abnormal wound healing, chronic skin conditions affecting the treatment area Immune disorders or immunosuppression. Uncontrolled diabetes, blood clotting disorders, significant heart conditions. Active cancer or those currently undergoing cancer treatment, cardiac pacemakers or implanted defibrillators. There has been recent sun exposure or tanning, the skin is sunburnt, irritated or inflamed, an abortion has occurred within the previous 3 months. Have unrealistic expectations regarding treatment outcomes, show signs consistent with Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), require further assessment to determine treatment suitability. Clients with Fitzpatrick skin types IV–VI require careful assessment and patch testing to minimise the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and ensure treatment safety.

For your Carbon Laser Facial appointment, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing and arriving with clean skin free from makeup where possible. If treatment is being performed on the face, neck or chest, a loose-fitting top with a wide neckline or buttons is ideal to allow easy access and minimise friction afterwards. Avoid wearing high collars, scarves or fabrics that may rub against the treated area following your treatment. Soft, breathable clothing is recommended, particularly if your skin is prone to sensitivity. There is no need for special clothing, and most clients are able to return to normal activities immediately after treatment. Your comfort and privacy are always our priority, and disposable headbands, towels and gowns are provided when required.

Carbon Laser Facial is suitable for most skin types and is particularly beneficial for oily skin, acne-prone skin, enlarged pores, dull skin and mild pigmentation concerns. A consultation is required to confirm suitability, especially if you have very sensitive skin or active skin conditions.

Some clients see noticeable improvement after just one session. For concerns such as acne, enlarged pores or pigmentation, a course of three to six treatments spaced a few weeks apart may be recommended for optimal results. Your treatment plan will always be personalised during consultation.

Carbon Laser Facial has little to no downtime. You may experience mild redness for a few hours after treatment, similar to light sun exposure. Most clients return to normal activities immediately.

The whole treatment takes between 30-40 minutes.

Most clients describe the Carbon Laser Facial as very comfortable. You may feel a mild warmth and light snapping sensation as the laser passes over the skin, but it is generally well tolerated and does not require numbing cream. It is often referred to as a “lunchtime facial” due to its minimal discomfort and quick recovery.
