The main cause of tired eyes is a decrease in the amounts of collagen and elastin in the skin causing fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation such as dark circles. These proteins are responsible for our skin's elasticity and thickness, but production decreases as we age.
The best form of prevention is to protect your skin from sun damage. You should wear a good SPF and protect your eyes from direct sunlight with sunglasses and a large brimmed hat. You can also use skincare products that contain anti-ageing ingredients to help soften wrinkles and reduce the signs of ageing.
