Lactic Acid Peel is a gentle yet effective chemical peel designed to exfoliate, hydrate and brighten the skin while improving overall skin tone and texture. Known for its hydrating and skin-renewing properties, lactic acid works to remove dead skin cells while helping the skin retain moisture, making it an ideal treatment for dry, dull or sensitive skin types.
This professional peel helps reveal smoother, softer and more radiant skin with minimal irritation and downtime.
Lactic Acid Peel can help improve:
Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from milk sugars that gently exfoliates the outer layers of dead skin cells while attracting moisture into the skin.
The treatment works by:
Because lactic acid is gentler than many other peel acids, it is often well suited to sensitive or first-time peel clients.
Clients often notice softer, brighter and more hydrated skin following treatment, with continued improvements developing over the following days.
Benefits may include:
Mild dryness or light flaking may occasionally occur depending on skin sensitivity and peel strength.
Your Lactic Acid Peel treatment begins with a full skin consultation and cleanse before the peel solution is carefully applied to the skin.
Most clients experience a mild tingling or warming sensation during treatment. Once complete, calming and hydrating products are applied to soothe and protect the skin.
The treatment is quick, comfortable and requires minimal downtime.

Following your Lactic Acid Peel treatment, it is important to care for your skin correctly to maximise your results, support the skin's natural healing process and minimise the risk of irritation or pigmentation changes. It is normal to experience some temporary side effects following treatment, including: * Mild redness. * A feeling of warmth or tightness. * Slight dryness. * Mild flaking or peeling over the following few days. * Increased skin sensitivity. These effects are usually mild and settle within 3–7 days, depending on your skin type and the strength of the peel. To protect your skin and support recovery: * Leave the peel on for the length of time advised by your practitioner, if instructed to do so. * Keep the treated area clean and avoid touching your face unnecessarily. * Apply only the recommended moisturiser or post-treatment skincare products. * Avoid rubbing, picking or scratching the skin. * Stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water. For the first 24–48 hours: * Avoid hot baths, hot showers, saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs. * Avoid vigorous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating. * Avoid swimming pools and chlorinated water. * Avoid wearing heavy makeup for at least 24 hours, or until advised by your practitioner. * Avoid applying perfumed or potentially irritating skincare products. For the first 5–7 days: * Avoid retinol, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin C serums and exfoliating products until your skin has fully recovered. * Do not pick, peel or remove any flaking skin, as this may increase the risk of irritation, infection or pigmentation changes. * Avoid waxing, threading, dermaplaning, chemical peels, microneedling, laser treatments or IPL on the treated area until your practitioner advises it is safe to do so. * Continue using a gentle cleanser and a fragrance-free moisturiser to support the skin barrier. Your skin will be more sensitive to UV exposure following a Lactic Acid Peel. * Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 every day. * Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours when outdoors. * Avoid direct sun exposure and sunbeds for at least 2 weeks after treatment. * Wear a wide-brimmed hat or protective clothing when spending time outside. Protecting your skin from UV exposure is essential to reduce the risk of pigmentation changes and maintain your treatment results. To achieve the best results from your Lactic Acid Peel: * Follow the personalised skincare advice provided by your practitioner. * Keep your skin well hydrated with a suitable moisturiser. * Use SPF 30–50 daily. * Attend the recommended course of treatments if advised, as regular treatments provide the greatest improvement in skin tone, texture and radiance. * Maintain a consistent medical-grade skincare routine to prolong your results. Please contact Body Perfection Clinic if you have any concerns about your healing or experience: * Severe or worsening redness lasting longer than 72 hours. * Excessive swelling or increasing pain. * Blistering. * Persistent irritation or delayed healing. * Any unexpected or concerning reaction following your treatment. **If you think you have developed an infection (such as increasing redness, excessive heat, pus, discharge or fever), or you feel generally unwell, please seek immediate medical advice from your GP, NHS 111 or your nearest emergency department if your symptoms are severe.** Your practitioner will be happy to advise you and arrange a review appointment if required.
