A consultation is an essential part of your Nd:YAG Pico Laser treatment and is required before your first appointment. During your consultation, your practitioner will assess your skin, discuss your concerns and determine whether Nd:YAG Pico Laser treatment is the most suitable option for your individual needs. We will review your: Skin type and skin tone. Medical history and current medications. Previous laser or aesthetic treatments. Current skincare routine and active ingredients. The skin concern or pigmentation you would like to treat. Treatment goals and expectations. Your practitioner will explain how the Nd:YAG Pico Laser works, discuss the expected results, outline any potential risks and answer any questions you may have. This ensures the treatment is safe, appropriate and tailored to your individual skin. A patch test is required before your first Nd:YAG Pico Laser treatment. This allows us to assess your skin's response to the laser and ensure the treatment can be carried out safely. During your consultation, your skin will be thoroughly assessed, and photographs may be taken (with your consent) to monitor your progress throughout your treatment course. For your appointment, we recommend arriving with clean skin, free from make-up, fake tan, moisturisers and other skincare products where possible. You should also avoid excessive sun exposure before treatment, as this can affect your suitability and treatment results. Every client is different, which is why we create a personalised treatment plan based on your skin type, concerns and desired results. Following your ND:YAG Pico Laser treatment, it is important to care for your skin correctly to support healing, minimise the risk of complications and achieve the best possible results. It is normal to experience some temporary side effects following treatment, including: Mild redness and warmth in the treated area. Slight swelling. Mild tenderness, similar to sunburn. Temporary dryness or tightness. Darkening of pigmented lesions before they gradually fade (where pigmentation is being treated). Mild crusting or flaking in some cases. These reactions are expected and usually settle within a few hours to several days, depending on the treatment performed. Immediately after treatment to protect your skin and support healing: Apply 100% Aloe Vera Gel or any soothing product recommended by your practitioner. Keep the treated area clean and well moisturised. Drink plenty of water to support your skin's natural healing process. Avoid touching, rubbing or scratching the treated area. For the first 24–48 hours: Avoid hot baths, hot showers, saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs. Avoid vigorous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating. Avoid swimming pools and chlorinated water. Avoid applying perfumed products or active skincare to the treated area. Cleanse the skin using only a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser. For the first 7 days: Avoid exfoliating products, retinol, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid, salicylic acid and other active skincare products. Do not pick, peel or scratch any crusting or flaking skin. Avoid chemical peels, microneedling or additional laser treatments unless advised by your practitioner. Continue using a gentle moisturiser to keep the skin hydrated. Protecting your skin from UV exposure is essential following ND:YAG Pico Laser treatment. Avoid direct sun exposure and sunbeds for at least 30 days after treatment. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 50 every day, even on cloudy days. Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours when outdoors. Wear a wide-brimmed hat or other physical sun protection whenever possible. Failure to protect your skin from UV exposure can increase the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). Maintaining your results The number of treatments required will depend on your skin concern, skin type and treatment goals. To maximise your results: Attend your recommended course of treatments at the intervals advised by your practitioner. Continue using daily SPF 50 to protect your skin and maintain your results. Follow a personalised skincare routine recommended by your practitioner. Keep your skin well hydrated and moisturised to support healthy skin renewal. Please contact Body Perfection Clinic if you have any concerns about your healing or experience: Severe or worsening redness lasting longer than 72 hours. Excessive swelling or increasing pain. Blistering. Delayed healing. Any unexpected or concerning reaction following your treatment. If you think you have developed an infection (such as increasing redness, excessive heat, pus, discharge or fever), or you feel generally unwell, please seek immediate medical advice from your GP, NHS 111 or your nearest emergency department if your symptoms are severe. Your practitioner will be happy to advise you and arrange a review appointment if required.

To ensure your ND:YAG Pico Laser treatment is as safe and effective as possible, please follow the advice below before your appointment. Avoid direct sun exposure, sunbeds and sunbathing for at least 30 days before your treatment. Recently tanned skin significantly increases the risk of burns and pigmentation changes. Do not apply fake tan or self-tanning products to the treatment area for 7 days before your appointment. Avoid using retinol, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin C serums and exfoliating products on the treatment area for 5–7 days before treatment. Avoid chemical peels, microneedling or other laser treatments on the treatment area for at least 2 weeks before your appointment. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, hot yoga and excessive heat treatments for 48 hours before treatment. If hair is present within the treatment area, shave the area 24 hours before your appointment, unless advised otherwise by your practitioner. Do not wax, thread, pluck or use depilatory creams before treatment. Arrive with the treatment area clean and free from makeup, moisturisers, perfumes, deodorants, oils or body lotions. Stay well hydrated before your appointment to support your skin's natural healing response. Inform your practitioner if you are taking or have recently taken Roaccutane (Isotretinoin), antibiotics, steroids, photosensitising medications or herbal supplements, as these may increase your skin's sensitivity to laser treatment. Please inform your practitioner of any changes to your medical history, medications, allergies or recent aesthetic treatments before your appointment. If the treatment area becomes sunburnt, broken, infected, irritated or you develop a cold sore before your appointment, please contact the clinic as your treatment may need to be rescheduled. During your consultation, your practitioner will assess your skin, discuss your treatment goals and confirm your suitability for ND:YAG Pico Laser treatment. A personalised treatment plan will then be created to ensure the safest procedure and the best possible results.

A patch test for laser treatments costs **£25**. The patch test fee is charged separately and **is not deducted from the cost of your treatment**. This appointment allows our practitioners to assess your skin type, review your medical history and safely determine the most appropriate treatment settings for your individual needs. Patch testing is an essential part of ensuring safe and effective laser treatment and must be completed before your first appointment. Patch tests carried out by another clinic cannot be accepted. For your safety, Body Perfection Clinic requires all clients to undergo a patch test performed by one of our practitioners before treatment.

Treatment is not suitable for clients with: Pregnancy or breastfeeding, current or recent use of Roaccutane (Isotretinoin) within the previous 6–12 months, photosensitising medications, blood-thinning medications or bleeding disorders. Autoimmune diseases requiring immunosuppressive medication, immune system disorders, uncontrolled diabetes, significant heart disease or cardiovascular conditions. Kidney disease, liver disease, epilepsy (unless medically cleared). Active cancer or those currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy, organ transplant recipients or those taking anti-rejection medication, cardiac pacemakers or implanted defibrillators. Treatment may require medical clearance for clients with: Controlled diabetes, epilepsy, autoimmune conditions, certain medications that may affect healing or increase photosensitivity. Treatment should be postponed if: There has been recent sun exposure or tanning (minimum 4 weeks), fake tan has been applied within the previous 2–4 weeks. The skin is sunburnt, inflamed or irritated, recent chemical peels, microneedling or laser treatments have been performed within the treatment area, there is an active outbreak of cold sores when treating the face, the client has recently been unwell or completed a course of antibiotics and has not fully recovered. Clients with Fitzpatrick skin types IV–VI require careful assessment and patch testing to minimise the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Treatment settings are individually adjusted according to skin type and the concern being treated. Treatment may not be suitable for clients who: Have unrealistic expectations regarding treatment outcomes, show signs consistent with Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD)

For your ND:YAG Pico Laser appointment, we recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the treatment area. Soft, breathable fabrics are ideal and will help minimise friction and irritation following treatment. If you are having treatment on the face, neck or chest, a loose-fitting top with a wide neckline or buttons is recommended. For body treatments, wear clothing that can be easily adjusted to expose the area being treated while ensuring your comfort and privacy. Please avoid tight clothing, rough fabrics and anything that may rub against the treated area afterwards, as the skin may feel slightly warm or sensitive for a short period following treatment. Arrive with clean skin free from makeup, fake tan, moisturisers, perfumes and aftershave on the treatment area. If you are having tattoo removal, avoid applying numbing creams unless specifically advised. Your comfort, dignity and privacy are always our priority, and protective eyewear, disposable towels and gowns are provided when required.
