Advice Following your Laser Hair Reduction treatment, it is important to care for your skin correctly to minimise irritation and achieve the best possible long-term results. Immediately after treatment to protect your skin and promote healing: Apply 100% Aloe Vera Gel if the treated area feels warm or sensitive: keep the skin clean and well moisturised using a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser. Drink plenty of water to help keep your skin hydrated. Avoid touching, scratching or rubbing the treated area unnecessarily. For the first 24–48 hours: Avoid hot baths, hot showers, saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs. Avoid swimming pools and chlorinated water. Avoid vigorous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating. Avoid direct sun exposure and always protect the treated area with a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50. Between treatments: Do not wax, thread, pluck or use depilatory creams, as these remove the hair follicle required for effective treatment. Shaving is permitted and recommended if hair removal is required between appointments. Avoid exfoliating products, retinol, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs and other active skincare products on the treated area for 3–5 days. Continue to keep the skin moisturised and well hydrated. Maintaining your results laser hair reduction works most effectively when treatments are completed at the recommended intervals. To achieve the best results: Attend all scheduled treatment sessions. Protect the treated skin from sun exposure throughout your course of treatment. Apply SPF 30–50 daily, even on cloudy days. Maintain a healthy skincare routine to keep your skin in optimal condition. Recently tanned skin significantly increases the risk of burns and pigmentation changes. Do not wax, thread, pluck, tweeze or use depilatory creams on the treatment area for 4 weeks before treatment, as the hair follicle must remain intact for the laser to be effective. Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment, unless your practitioner advises otherwise. The skin should be clean-shaven, but avoid shaving immediately before treatment if it causes irritation. Avoid using retinol, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin C serums and exfoliating products on the treatment area for 5–7 days before treatment. Avoid chemical peels, microneedling or other laser treatments on the treatment area for at least 2 weeks before your appointment. Arrive with clean skin, free from moisturisers, deodorants, aftershave, fragrances, body oils or lotions on the treatment area. Stay well hydrated before your appointment to support healthy skin function and optimise your treatment. Inform your practitioner if you are taking or have recently taken antibiotics, Roaccutane (Isotretinoin), steroids, photosensitising medications or herbal supplements that may increase your skin's sensitivity to light. Please inform your practitioner of any changes to your medical history, medications, skin conditions, implanted medical devices or recent aesthetic treatments before your appointment. If you develop a skin infection, cold sore, sunburn, open wound or irritation within the treatment area before your appointment, please contact the clinic as your treatment may need to be postponed. A patch test for laser treatments costs **£25**. The patch test fee is charged separately and **is not deducted from the cost of your treatment**. This appointment allows our practitioners to assess your skin type, review your medical history and safely determine the most appropriate treatment settings for your individual needs. Patch testing is an essential part of ensuring safe and effective laser treatment and must be completed before your first appointment. Patch tests carried out by another clinic cannot be accepted. For your safety, Body Perfection Clinic requires all clients to undergo a patch test performed by one of our practitioners before treatment.

Treatment is not suitable for clients with: Active cancer or those currently undergoing radiotherapy or chemotherapy, active shingles, active herpes simplex (cold sores) within the treatment area or active skin infections. Current or recent use of Roaccutane (Isotretinoin), photosensitive medications, history of keloid scarring or abnormal wound healing, suspicious moles or melanoma within the treatment area. Treatment may require a GP letter or medical approval for clients with: Heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease, thyroid hormone deficiency, controlled diabetes, steroid or hormonal therapy, AIDS or immunodeficiency disorders, haemophilia or bleeding disorders. Previous gold injections. Treatment should be avoided over: Burns or grafted skin, areas with active infections, areas affected by herpes simplex, keloid scars, suspicious moles or melanoma. Treatment should be postponed if: there has been recent sun exposure or tanning, the skin is sunburnt, irritated or inflamed, waxing, plucking or threading has been performed recently, there is an active outbreak of cold sores within the treatment area. Certain medications may increase photosensitivity and require temporary postponement of treatment.

For your Male Laser Hair Reduction appointment, we recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the treatment area. Soft, breathable fabrics are ideal and will help minimise friction and irritation following treatment. If you are having treatment on the chest, back or shoulders, a loose-fitting T-shirt or button-up shirt is recommended. For underarm treatments, a sleeveless or loose-fitting top will provide easy access. If treating the legs or intimate areas, loose shorts, joggers or comfortable underwear are advised. Please avoid tight clothing, rough fabrics and anything that may rub against the treated area afterwards, as the skin may feel warm and slightly sensitive for a few hours following treatment. Arrive with clean skin free from fake tan, moisturisers, deodorants, aftershave and fragrances on the treatment area.
