IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a third-generation light-based system designed to reduce unwanted hair growth safely and effectively.
This non-invasive treatment targets the hair follicle without damaging surrounding skin. With advanced integrated cooling technology, treatments are designed to be as comfortable as possible.
IPL can be used on both men and women and is suitable for most areas of the face and body.
IPL Laser Hair Removal is used to reduce unwanted hair on:
• Legs
• Arms
• Underarms
• Chest and back
• Bikini line
• Upper lip and chin
• Most face and body areas
IPL is also used in aesthetic medicine for skin rejuvenation, acne, thread veins and wrinkle reduction, although this page refers specifically to hair reduction.
Areas containing tattoos cannot be treated.
IPL works by delivering pulses of visible light energy into the skin.
• The light is attracted to melanin (pigment) within the hair.
• The darker the hair, the more effectively it absorbs the energy.
• The absorbed light converts into heat.
• The heat damages the hair follicle, reducing its ability to regrow.
An optical coupling gel is applied during treatment to protect the skin and assist light transmission.
Because hair grows in cycles, multiple treatments are required to target hairs in their active growth phase.
Clients typically notice:
• Slower regrowth
• Finer, lighter hair
• Reduced hair density
• Smoother skin
• Less irritation from shaving or waxing
With a full course of treatments, many clients achieve significant long-term hair reduction. However, individual results vary depending on skin tone, hair colour and hormonal factors.
Your treatment begins with a consultation and patch test to ensure suitability.
During the procedure:
• The area is cleansed
• Cooling gel is applied
• The IPL handpiece is placed against the skin
• Controlled light pulses are delivered
Most clients describe the sensation as a quick flick or elastic band snap against the skin. Sensation varies depending on hair thickness, skin tone and treatment area.
Session times vary depending on the size of the area treated.
At Body Perfection Clinic, we use advanced IPL systems with integrated cooling technology to maximise comfort and safety.
Each treatment plan is tailored to your skin type, hair colour and growth pattern to ensure effective, professional results.
Our focus is long-term hair reduction delivered safely, comfortably and with clinical precision.

After your IPL treatment, the skin may feel warm or appear slightly red, similar to mild sun exposure. This usually settles within a few hours. Avoid sun exposure, sunbeds and fake tanning for at least 2 weeks after treatment. Apply SPF daily to protect the treated area. Avoid hot baths, saunas, steam rooms and intense exercise for 24–48 hours, as heat can increase sensitivity. Do not wax or pluck between sessions. You may continue to shave if needed. Avoid harsh exfoliants, active skincare ingredients or perfumed products on the treated area for a few days until the skin has fully settled. Treated hairs will begin to shed naturally over the following 1–3 weeks. This is normal and part of the treatment process
