Stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water. First 24–48 Hours Avoid hot baths, saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs. Avoid strenuous exercise that may increase blood flow to the treated area. Avoid alcohol, as it may encourage blood vessel dilation. Do not apply perfumed skincare products or active ingredients to the treated area if the skin feels sensitive. First 5–14 Days Do not pick or remove any scabs or crusts. Allow them to fall away naturally to reduce the risk of scarring or pigmentation changes. Avoid direct sun exposure to the treated area. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 daily if the treated area is exposed. Avoid sunbeds until the skin has completely healed. Continue to use gentle skincare products until the skin has fully recovered. Maintaining Your Results Thermavein provides immediate treatment of the targeted vessels; however, new thread veins may develop over time due to genetics, ageing, sun exposure or lifestyle factors. To help maintain your results: Wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 every day on exposed skin. Avoid excessive sun exposure. Follow a healthy lifestyle to support skin health. Attend any recommended follow-up appointments if additional treatment is required. When to Contact the Clinic Please contact Body Perfection Clinic if you experience: Severe or worsening pain. Significant swelling or redness that continues to increase. Persistent blistering or unexpected skin changes. Delayed healing. Any concerns about your recovery or results. If you develop signs of infection, including: Increasing redness. Excessive heat. Pus or discharge. Fever. Feeling unwell. Please seek medical advice promptly from your GP, NHS 111 or your nearest Emergency Department, as signs of infection may require medical assessment and treatment. Before Your Treatment Attend your consultation so we can assess your suitability for treatment and create a personalised treatment plan. Inform your practitioner of any medical conditions, allergies, medications or previous aesthetic treatments. Let us know if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or think you may be pregnant, as treatment is not recommended during this time. Inform your practitioner if you have a history of poor wound healing, keloid scarring or any circulatory conditions. Skin Preparation Arrive with clean skin, free from make-up, moisturisers, fake tan, SPF and other skincare products on the treatment area. Avoid using retinol, Retin-A, AHAs, BHAs or exfoliating skincare products on the treatment area for 5–7 days before treatment. Avoid facial waxing, threading or depilatory creams on the treatment area for 5–7 days before your appointment. Avoid Before Treatment Avoid excessive sun exposure, sunbeds and self-tanning products for 2 weeks before treatment. Do not attend your appointment if you have sunburned, irritated or inflamed skin. Avoid chemical peels, laser treatments, IPL treatments or microneedling on the treatment area for 2–4 weeks, unless advised otherwise by your practitioner. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment, as it may increase skin sensitivity. Stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water before your appointment. On the Day of Your Appointment Please inform your practitioner if you have: A cold sore, skin infection, rash or broken skin in the treatment area. Started any new medications since your consultation. Developed any illness or fever. Experienced any recent changes to your health that may affect treatment. We will review your: Medical history and current medications. General health and any conditions affecting your circulation or skin. Previous aesthetic or vascular treatments. The location, size and type of thread veins or vascular blemishes. Treatment goals and expectations. Treament is not suitable for clients with: Active skin infection in the treatment area, pregnancy or breastfeeding, pacemaker or implanted electrical devices, active cancer or currently undergoing cancer treatment. Uncontrolled diabetes, blood clotting disorders or anticoagulant therapy — GP letter / assess individually. Keloid scarring or poor wound healing, autoimmune disorders affecting healing, severe cardiovascular disease — **GP letter**. Active herpes simplex (if treating the face) until healed, open wounds, cuts or abrasions in the treatment area, sunburn or severely irritated skin. Recent chemical peel, laser treatment or microneedling in the treatment area — **Delay until fully healed**. For your Thermavein appointment, we recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the treatment area. If treatment is being performed on the face, nose or cheeks, a loose-fitting top with a wide neckline or buttons is ideal to minimise friction afterwards. For body treatments, wear soft, breathable clothing that can be easily adjusted while maintaining your comfort and privacy. Avoid tight clothing, high collars or rough fabrics that may rub against the treated area following treatment. Please arrive with clean skin free from makeup, fake tan, moisturisers and perfumes where possible. Mild redness and slight sensitivity are common immediately after treatment, so loose clothing is recommended to help keep the area comfortable during the healing process. Your comfort and privacy are always our priority, and disposable headbands, towels and gowns are provided when required. Following treatment, protecting the area from friction, excessive heat and sun exposure will help support optimal healing and results.
