Electrolysis is a versatile treatment that uses a fine probe and controlled electrical current to safely target unwanted hair, vascular blemishes and a range of benign skin lesions. This precise treatment works by delivering heat directly into the targeted tissue, allowing effective treatment with minimal disruption to the surrounding skin.
Electrolysis is widely recognised as a permanent method of hair removal, but it can also be used to treat thread veins, cherry angiomas, skin tags, milia and certain benign skin imperfections. Its accuracy makes it particularly suitable for treating small areas of concern on both the face and body.
Electrolysis can be used to treat:
All lesions are assessed during consultation to ensure they are suitable for treatment.
Electrolysis uses a fine sterile probe to deliver a controlled electrical current directly into the targeted hair follicle, blood vessel or lesion.
Depending on the concern being treated, the treatment works by:
The precision of electrolysis allows targeted treatment while minimising damage to surrounding healthy skin.
Results depend on the condition being treated, but many clients experience significant improvement or complete removal of the targeted concern.
Benefits may include:
Some concerns may require a course of treatments depending on their size, number and location.
Your appointment begins with a consultation to assess the area and determine suitability.
During treatment:
Treatment times vary depending on the area being treated and the number of lesions or hairs involved.
At Body Perfection Clinic, we use advanced electrolysis techniques to safely and effectively treat a variety of cosmetic and skin concerns. Every treatment is tailored to the individual, with a focus on achieving excellent results while prioritising comfort, safety and skin health.
Treatment costs vary depending on the condition being treated, the treatment method used and the number of lesions or areas requiring treatment. Following your Electrolysis treatment, it is important to care for the treated area correctly to promote healing, minimise irritation and achieve the best possible results. It is normal to experience some temporary side effects following treatment, including: * Mild redness. * Slight swelling around the hair follicles. * Warmth or tenderness. * Small pinpoint scabs in some treated areas. * Mild skin sensitivity. These reactions are expected and usually settle within 24–72 hours, although small scabs may take up to 7–10 days to resolve naturally. To protect the treated area and support healing: * Keep the treated area clean and dry for the first 24 hours. * Avoid touching, rubbing or scratching the treated area. * Apply any soothing gel or aftercare product recommended by your practitioner. * Drink plenty of water to help support healthy skin. For the first 24–48 hours: * Avoid direct sun exposure. * Avoid hot baths, hot showers, saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs. * Avoid vigorous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating. * Avoid swimming pools and chlorinated water. * Avoid applying makeup to the treated area for 24 hours, where possible. For the first 5–7 days: * Avoid retinol, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin C serums and exfoliating products on the treated area. * Avoid waxing, threading, plucking or depilatory creams between treatments. * Do not pick or scratch any small scabs that may form. * Continue using a gentle cleanser, moisturiser and SPF 30–50 if the treated area is exposed to daylight. Electrolysis is the only method of hair removal recognised as providing permanent hair removal when a full course of treatments is completed. Because hair grows in different cycles, multiple treatment sessions are required to successfully treat each hair during its active growth phase. To maximise your results: * Complete your recommended course of treatments. * Avoid waxing or plucking hairs between appointments. * Shaving or trimming is acceptable if required. * Protect the treated area from excessive sun exposure. * Follow your personalised treatment plan as advised by your practitioner. Please contact Body Perfection Clinic if you have any concerns about your healing or experience: * Severe or worsening redness lasting longer than 72 hours. * Excessive swelling or increasing pain. * Persistent bleeding. * Delayed healing. * Any unexpected or concerning reaction following your treatment. **If you think you have developed an infection (such as increasing redness, excessive heat, pus, discharge or fever), or you feel generally unwell, please seek immediate medical advice from your GP, NHS 111 or your nearest emergency department if your symptoms are severe.** Your practitioner will be happy to advise you and arrange a review appointment if required.
