What is Derma FNS Microneedling?

Derma FNS™ uses vertical insertions to create thousands of tiny holes in the skin, causing the release of serum growth factors to break down old fibrous collagen and stimulate the development of new collagen and elastin. The results of this treatment are comparable in effect to ablative treatments such as Fraxel, IPL and Laser Resurfacing, but with much less downtime and minimal damage to the integrity of the skin.

• Skin tightening, lifting and rejuvenation

• Acne scars and wound healing

• Improving wrinkles and fine lines

• Minimising pore size

• Improving stretch marks

• Treating alopecia

Dry Skin treatment

Itchy, flaky and stiff - this is not how our skin should be, but for so many of us, dry skin is oh too common, making us uncomfortable and even self-conscious. But it doesn’t have to be that way, dry skin is totally treatable, you can start fixing it today.

Even if you’ve got very dry skin there’ll likely be a treatment out there that will nourish your skin back to health. But to do this, we need to understand dry skin, what causes it and how to help our skin. The Poko deep dive into dry skin will answer all these questions and point you towards a future with soft and supple skin.

What is dry skin?

Okay, so first things first - what is dry skin? Well, dry skin is just as it sounds, skin that lacks moisture. Here are some signs to watch out for if you suspect your skin

is drying out.

Dry skin is often tight and easily irritated, especially by tight-fitting clothes. Fine lines and small pores develop on the skin and it can start to flake. It’s common for dry skin to develop a rougher than normal texture which makes applying makeup tricky.

What causes dry skin?

There’s got to be a cause of this nuisance right? Actually, there are plenty of causes.

Our environment can play a part, especially when we’re exposed to cold weather or dry air for long periods of time. Using harsh chemicals in soaps too often, or not

washing them away properly, can unbalance our natural pH. And there are some natural factors too like our age, diet, hygiene and even our medication can throw our skin’s natural softness off tilt.

Aloe vera juice

Aloe vera juice is very beneficial for dry skin types. It is rich in vitamin B, C and E. Along with that, it protects our skin from pollutants thanks to its antioxidants and enzymes. It is an excellent ingredient for hydrating and moisturising the skin. It is particularly well suited to this skin type since it keeps skin quenched. Aloe vera juice soothes the skin due to its natural anti-inflammatory properties also. Not to mention, it is the perfect moisturising ingredient since it quickly absorbs into the skin. It has healing properties, which makes it great for treating sensitive, dry areas on your face.

Apricot kernel oil

Apricot kernel oil is a brilliant ingredient for treating dry skin since it is high in omega 3, omega 6, and omega 9. These are fatty acids that help our skin feel lush and luxurious. These acids work to make the skin soft and supple while simultaneously soothing it. They work so well because it resembles the natural sebum our skin produces. On top of this apricot kernel oil hydrates and balances the skin without causing any irritation. Being light on the skin, it absorbs into the skin quickly. It also seeps deep into the skin, keeping us moisturised better and for longer.

Cannabidiol

Cannabidiol, or as most of us call it, CBD, is a compound that is found in the hemp plant. Research has noted CBD could help treat skin conditions that feature dryness and itching. It has also been said to have soothing properties, which makes it ideal for sensitive skin. People rave about how CBD has helped brighten up dull skin and works to fade fine lines. CBD is also said to have antioxidant properties, which can help prevent free radical damage. Give a CBD skincare product a try and see the results for yourself.

Olive oil

Olive oil is a natural way to soften skin that is packed full of fatty acids. These fatty acids enable dry skin types to retain water, which helps to keep skin moisturised and hydrated. It is excellent for those experiencing sensitivity or irritation because it is naturally rich in squalene which really resembles the skin’s natural oils. They also work as antioxidants to heal and protect the skin from environmental damage. Olive oil, delicious and great for your skin.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is another one of those surprising ingredients that’s also excellent for treating dry skin. It is rich in lipids, vitamins, and antioxidants. Not to mention, it has anti-inflammatory as well, which is a godsend for us with sensitive skin. It has even been found to be beneficial for skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. Both of which cause dry and flaking skin as well as irritation.

Anti - Ageing Skin

Our skin, is the bodies, largest organ, needing nourishment as much as the rest of our body. Protecting the skin from the external environment and daily pollutants it faces is essential. As with the rest of our body, it is even more important as our skin goes through ageing changes. The way those changes are affected will depend for the most part on the lifestyle we lead. Diet, exercise, unhealthy habits, weather, and sun contribute to how our skin ages. However, there are many ways; we can keep our skin feel rejuvenated, fresh and healthy. Unhealthy eating habits, or lack of water, contribute to our skin losing vitality and becoming dehydrated. But a good anti-ageing skincare routine with products that feed the skin, and a healthy lifestyle do help.

Changes to our skin

> Blood vessel walls become thinner: meaning we bruise easily

>Skin becomes more fragile due to changes in our layers

>Elastin and collagen loss cause loose skin

>Skin becomes rougher

>The skin develops dark spots or lesions

>Epidermis thins, causing our skin to become more transparent

Our Ingredients that help ageing

Aloe Barbadenis Leaf Juice Extract

Rich source of essential vitamins B, C, and E which are beneficial for skin health, as well as enzymes and antioxidants for protecting the skin against pollutants. Aloe vera juice is an excellent skin hydrator, which can help to reduce the frequency of acne break-outs and keep dry skin quenched. Natural anti-inflammatory properties also soothe the skin, and can help to fight against surface acne.

Apricot Kernel Oil

Apricot kernel oil is high in omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids, which soothe the skin while keeping it soft and supple. Apricot kernel oil also closely resembles the natural sebum produced by the skin, making it an excellent ingredient for keeping your skin balanced and hydrated without irritation.

Argan Oil

Commonly found in skin moisturisers, argan oil absorbs quickly, without leaving a greasy film on the skin. It is high in vitamin E and omega fatty acids, which keep skin moisturized and balanced which can help prevent both dry patches and surface acne.

Avocado Oil

Avocado oil is an emollient vegetable oil with powerful antioxidant properties that provide a rich source of regenerating fatty acids for the skin. It also contains a natural steroid of plant origin called steroline, which triggers the production of collagen, making the skin luscious, brighter and less prone to fine lines. Baobab Oil Derived from the seeds of the Adansonia tree, this plant oil is supercharged with vitamins A, D, E and F to help the skin rejuvenate damaged cells. Baobab oil is also full of omega fatty acids to help fight free radicals and the signs of aging. Thanks to its rich and silky finish, this oil is particularly beneficial for dry skin conditions to provide hydration without clogging pores.

Cannabidiol

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a compound found in the hemp plant known for its powerful anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to soothe skin irritation and promote faster healing. This makes it especially beneficial for inflammatory skin conditions such as acne, dermatitis, and psoriasis. The soothing properties of CBD also make it suitable for sensitive skin types that have a tendency to react negatively to certain products. CBD also has antioxidant properties which can help combat free radical damage.

Cetearyl Alcohol

When it comes to alcohols in skincare, not all are created equal. Unlike drying alcohols which can damage the skin (like alcohol denat), cetearyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol that works as an emollient, helping to heal dry, dehydrated skin.

Green Tea Extract

A powerful botanical extract high in antioxidants that can effectively soothe irritated skin, and help repair environmental damage caused by factors like pollutants and sun exposure. Green tea extract is also rich in flavanoids, which can boost immune response in skin cells to promote faster healing.

Hyaluronic Acid

A sugary compound which extracts up to 1,000 times its weight in water, making it an excellent skin hydrator. Some scientific evidence also suggests that hyaluronic acid can boost the skin’s natural collagen production, to regain elasticity and an even skin tone.

Moringa Oil

Moringa oil is compromised almost 50% of monounsaturated fatty acids, with a particularly high percentage of oleic acid which helps to replenish moisture in the skin lost in the aging process It is also a rich source of vitamin E, which helps to reduce scarring and acne marks while keeping the skin moisturised and protected against environmental damage.

Oatmeal

Rich in antioxidants, lipids and vitamins, oatmeal is a powerful anti-inflammatory plant extract. It can calm skin quickly and effectively, making it suitable for even the most sensitive skin types. It is particularly effective for alleviating rashes and sunburns, as well as soothing inflammatory skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema.

Pomegranate Extract

With naturally high levels of vitamin C, this fruit extract is a powerful antioxidant which helps to brighten dull complexions and fade out acne scarring, sun damage and dark spots. High levels of antioxidants also help to protect skin cells from environmental damage, fight against free radicals and reduce skin inflammation.

Shea Butter

High levels of fatty acids and essential vitamins make shea butter an excellent occlusive for dry ,dehydrated skin unable to retain enough moisture on its own. Shea butter also has anti-inflammatory properties to help heal dry, damaged complexions, which help to condition the skin leaving it supple and smooth.
